Hello, and a very warm welcome to Let’s Travel UK, a travel site that’s full of ideas and inspiration to make your UK travels easier – whether you want to find the best hotels in the city or by the sea, or discover why you should spend a week or weekend in Newcastle, Manchester, North Devon or Dorset.
I’m a former travel agency manager who’s worked all over London, a trade I got into after spending a lot of time travelling. That and my experience as a professional copywriter are combined to create this site, showcasing the very best the UK has to offer.
Quick links to the categories covered are beneath this intro, or you can find out more about where I’ve lived and travelled to further down the page. Let’s travel the UK!
About Let’s Travel UK.
My background – and my heart – is in travel. Soon after leaving university, I spent a year in Australia. Since returning I have explored the world – the UK in particular. I’ve lived in Northumberland, Manchester, Edinburgh, Liverpool, London and now reside near Bournemouth.
After my gap year I worked in the travel trade for years, advising others on their travels within the UK and beyond. I spent my spare time visiting locations all over the British Isles – from the Isle of Skye off the north Scottish coast to the most southerly location in England at Lizard Point.
I’ve been eating my way around the world ever since I first arrived in the 1970s. From a full English by the beach on a Sunday morning to a slap-up meal in a smart restaurant on date night, I love to sample all sorts of food from far-flung locations – as well as the New Forest and coast near my home.
Whether you want a recommended two day itinerary for London, to find the perfect romantic hotel by the seaside or an ideal city for a quick weekend getaway, I’m here to help you plan your Staycation – or vacation.
I have some travel tales to tell, too. There are restaurant reviews of my local eateries here in Dorset. Find out what Newcastle and Manchester were like in the 80s and 90s, or discover my favourite New Forest spots or family holiday parks.
